I was a little concerned that the supplement might have a strong odor but it does not.
My dog eats her meals with gusto not even noticing the addition of the supplement.

Healthy diets for our puppies

We’ve been using BalanceIt Canine Plus for a little less than a year, recommended by our vet. We enjoy cooking their food with fresh ingredients and the BalanceIt makes it easy. We find their recipe builder online user-friendly and customer service is so reliable. I recommend this product for anyone who is trying a fresh food diet on their dogs. Why not give it a try?

Thank you for leaving a review and the separate great word-of-mouth marketing for Balance It, Chi. It is really supportive of our daily, collective team efforts here -- from our software developers to our production and fulfillment personnel to our customer care team.

Good but too gummy

My dog takes this daily. It takes a lot of effort to get her to eat it. The gummy texture is the reason why she refuses it at times. The cellulose powder in it makes it sticky and gummy if you mix it in soft foods. My dog will not eat it cooked in foods because the odor is stronger. If it did not have the cellulose powder, I would have given it 5 stars. It has helped her get the nutrients she needs for her daily diet under the supervision of a veterinarian nutritionist, so I will continue to use it.

Michele, thank you for taking the time to leave us a review! Powdered cellulose is used as it is the most innocuous and non-antigenic anti-caking agent we can identify. It does not gum as a completely insoluble fiber, and instead we suspect any caking or clumping is due to the higher concentration of vitamins that allow it to be heated one time. Spreading or sprinkling the powder throughout while stirring should avoid any effect on texture as that is not a typically reported issue/concern with this supplement. You may also want to consider Balance It Canine instead since it has a lower vitamin concentration as it cannot be heated. If you find that your dog sometimes refuses the homemade diet and supplement, you may find helpful tips to entice her to eat in our FAQ: My dog/cat will not eat their food with the Balance It supplement added or mixed in. What should or can I do/try?

Dog didn't like it

This was referred to me by my vet. I bought the smallest dose possible and still had to throw the remainder away. I tried giving this to my little Chihuahua who honestly has the biggest appetite ever. He has congestive heart failure and to save a little on dog food I started making my dog's food again. The other dog also has vet approved kibble but my Chihuahua had teeth removed so he can only eat soft food. Since he has congestive heart failure my vet was concerned about him getting all his nutrients and vitamins but I gave him this balance it for 3 or 4 days for both meals in a row and he stopped eating altogether. He actually stole the other dog's food when my other dog decided to be indecisive one day. Kinda hard to get them nutrients if they won't eat. He was also getting kidney supplements and a probiotic before this and he ate that fine. I stopped giving him the balance it and he still wouldn't eat at first but is slowly getting back to trusting me with his food again lol. It's just weird because he's the dog that always eats his food and the bigger dog's food but he does not like the balance it.

Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're sorry to hear the Balance It® Canine Plus was not a good fit for your chihuahua with both congestive heart failure and apparently kidney disease. The Balance It® supplements are generally very well accepted and tolerated even in patients with many concurrent health conditions; however occasionally, a homemade diet with any added supplement can be refused. Often very slow/gradual introduction is advised when conditions that can increase finickiness or reluctance to accept any diet change exist like in your dog. It is also why we have both small 20 gram pouches that are great for trial/introduction and also a 45 day refund policy as can be found in this FAQ: What is your Balance It® supplement return policy? We hope you are able to find a solution that is accepted that gives your dog the essential nutrients he needs.
