Love this!

My elderly dog stopped eating her kibble and I had to start making her human grade food in order to get her to eat. I struggled to find reliable recipes that fulfilled her nutritional needs. My vet told me about BalanceIt and I was finally able to have a food recipe that met all of her needs. Balance It makes it so easy. She's put weight back on and is thriving. Thank you so much. This product literally saved my dog's life.

You're welcome, and thank you for sharing your story, Megan. It's wonderful to hear that Balance It® has made things easier for you and that your elderly dog is doing so well on her homemade diet.

We hope she keeps 'thriving!'

Excellent product and service!

As a client, I have been using Balance It Canine Plus for my beloved golden retriever for over 7 years. She was severely underweight and malnourished when we rescued her and a carefully planned whole-food diet, along with Balance It Canine Plus provided this beautiful spirit with what she needed to rejuvenate and thrive. I am SO GRATEFUL to everyone at Balance It!

Janette, thank you for taking the time to share your 'excellent' review! It's wonderful to hear that Balance It® Canine Plus has been part of your Golden Retriever’s whole-food diet for more than seven years. We truly appreciate your kind words and long-time support, and hope Gili continues to 'thrive.'

Overall it's good and easy to use

So far, I haven't seen any changes in my dogs' health. I'll check their blood tests in 6 months to see if there are any changes.

Thank you for your positive review, Boram Lee. It's good to hear that you feel Balance It® Canine Plus is 'easy to use.'

Our supplements are designed to enhance homemade diets for dogs and cats by addressing any nutrient gaps and preventing deficiencies. To get a better understanding of deficiencies that are present without fortification, we suggest clicking on the '(See) Nutrient Profile' button or link for any passing recipe from our free Recipe Builder available at balance.it/recipes . This will then allow you to view in detail the '% of Requirement (without supplement)' column. For a review of the specific adverse health consequences of essential nutrient deficiencies, we suggest this comprehensive resource supported by the US federal government (there is a link to read at least parts for free) : https://nap.nationalacademies.org/catalog/10668/nutrient-requirements-of-dogs-and-cats . You may also find our FAQ 'I’ve been feeding a homemade diet to my dog or cat for years without giving them any added minerals or vitamins, and they don't seem to have any problems. Why should I start giving them Balance It® supplements?' found at https://balance.it/faqs to be of further interest.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact our Customer Care Team at info@balanceit.com. We are happy to help!

Caused GI upset

I won't be using this product. A tiny amount caused instant raging diarrhea in my BC. It also contains choline bitartrate.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're very sorry to hear your dog did not react well to the supplement when a very small amount was introduced.

There are dogs and cats that unfortunately can have 'idiosyncratic' or unique reactions to anything in their diet, including very rarely our purified and limited ingredient supplement, and it may not be tolerated. We do not have any known food quality or safety issues. Our Customer Care Management team will reach out to you to gather more information about your experience as we take food safety and quality very seriously and investigate all reports of issues, especially given our third-party food (aka human) grade certifications and state & federal registrations.

Regarding choline bitartrate, we are aware of a recent report (see https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jvim.70093 ) suggesting that dogs can very rarely (0.02% of submitted uroliths (aka urinary tract stones) or 63 out of 318,147 submissions) develop calcium tartrate tetrahydrate uroliths. In this study, they found that dietary choline bitartrate can sometimes be the likely identified source of the tartrate found in the urolith (but notably not always). Unfortunately, the stereoisomer composition (L- vs. DL- vs. D-) of the tartrate may be important, but no data have yet been published on the forms fed in these canine urolith formers. Previous studies have shown the safety of L-tartrate in dogs at doses higher than those used in Balance It supplements/recipes, please see: https://efsa.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.2903/j.efsa.2020.6030 . Given what is currently known and also about available alternative sources for this essential nutrient (or other methyl donors) that may be inferior, DVM Consulting continues to exclusively use the more expensive and purer natural L-tartrate-containing choline bitartrate. It is worth highlighting that we have extensively used choline bitartrate without issue for the last eight years.

You can find more information in our FAQ 'Does Balance It® use tartrate or tartaric acid, and if so, which stereoisomer(s)? And what should I do if my animal companion has a history of this very rare calcium tartrate tetrahydrate urolith?' found at balance.it/faqs or currently at https://balance.it/faqs#supplements_387 .

Thank you again for sharing your experience and, most importantly, we hope that your dog is feeling better now.

Love the ability to make my own dog food

I love being able to make my dogs fresh homemade food and I appreciate the vitamins provided by balance it. My goal is to make sure that my dogs have a nice balance diet and that that is the main portion of their food intake versus store-bought kibble. Balance it has given me the opportunity to provide that and to feel comfortable and safe knowing that my dogs are getting the vitamins and minerals they need. I have always received prompt shipment of an order and have never had any issues.

Marie, thank you for taking the time to share your review and experience. We’re so glad to hear that home cooking with Balance It® Canine Plus has helped you feel confident in providing your dogs with balanced homemade meals. We also loved the picture you shared of your two beautiful dogs enjoying the outdoors!

Happy Pet Parent

It gives me such peace of mind to know my pet is getting the supplemental vitamins he needs since I homecook and it would be impossible to include all his nutritional needs. My Vet Nutritionist recommended the diet I follow with the addition of BalanceIt. Thank you.

You’re welcome, Barbara, and thank you for sharing your review. It’s wonderful to hear that the homemade diet recommended by your board-certified veterinary nutritionist®, fortified with Balance It® Canine Plus, has given you 'peace of mind'.

We’re glad to know you’re a “happy pet parent,” and we wish your dog continued success with their diet!
